Much of our service to the children of Bagamoyo is not part of a special program. What began in 2004 as an evening library for the children of Bong’wa has blossomed into a play center for kids of all ages. Some days the children read on the porch, some days they play with donated toys and crayons or just use the yard to play ball and outdoor games.
We look the other way when they shake the guava from our tree. We also patch wounds and get kids to treatment for malaria, bee stings and other common ailments if they have no guardian to help them. The Baobab Home has made sure that all children who are of age in Bong’wa are attending primary school.
These children remain very close to the work at Baobab. They contribute greatly to a lively and sometimes hectic atmosphere at the home and we are very helpful to have them around.
We welcome volunteers who want to organize games and art projects for the Bong’wa kids.
Below are just a few of the children up to the usual antics!
