Guess what? We’ve got a Farm!
Dora Towndrow, who lives in England, has kindly donated enough money for us to buy our very own cow and we’ve called her Dora! We hope to expand the farm over the coming months, because Dora is having a calf, and we plan to add some more animals, probably a goat and some chickens.
I thought it would be interesting to learn a little bit more about Dora’s namesake:
Dora worked for 25 years as a postmistress and shop keeper and has two children and 4 grand children. During World War II Dora served as a member of the Women’s Land Army where, along with 80,000 women volunteers , she worked in agriculture and on the land. In recent years Dora has been the Treasurer of the Crondall branch of Women’s Institute and is a keen artist.
Dora has been a widow of 4 years following the death of her husband Ted Towndrow. Ted was also a shopkeeper served in the RAF in Africa, India and Ceylon (Sri Lanka), 1940-46.
